As many of you know, my birthday is coming up this sunday. Pretty cool stuff....anyway, I figured that for those of you who want to get me a present but haven't come up with any ideas yet, I'll post some links to some crazy stuff I would like that I'm sure no one's thought of, in various price ranges.
1. A pair of dress gloves -Preferably in grey, but I would not mind black or white either. My preference is in that order.
2. A monocle -I've been meaning to get one for a while, but haven't. I think it would be very good for my look. These used to come with a wooden box but I don't think they do anymore. What a shame.
3. A walking stick -This is just an example. There are many walking sticks one can find online, if you want to do some research. Only thing, I do not want one with a rubber end. That's for old people who need a stick to balance on. Just something simple, with a round gold or silver-colored handle.
4. A cravat or Puff tie
5. A Fedora -In black. And yes, I intend to wear it.
And if you're feeling very generous, I will accept one of these
Just some suggestions if you're feeling stuck. I appreciate creativity in gifts as well, so go crazy and buy me lots of cool stuff!

"I rear-ended a car this morning. So there we are alongside the road and slowly the driver gets out of the car . . . and you know how you just get sooo stressed and life seems to get funny? Well, I could NOT believe it . . he was a DWARF! He storms over to my car, looks up at me and says, "I AM NOT HAPPY!" So, I look down at him and say, "Well, which one are you then?"... and THAT'S when the fight started . ."

I once read that no matter what you find on the internet, there's someone who's turned on by it. I think I have found a new kind of niche porn. Tell me if you agree.

So Tom, Larissa, Shira and I went to Dracula's Ball last night. It was awesome. You know the first scene in Blade where they go to the vampire nightclub? It was exactly like that, except they didn't pour blood from the ceiling. We had soap bubbles instead. And lots of black balloons. It was so much fun and I can't wait to go back there. Also I bought awesome goggles there.

The Everything Test There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all. Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-) | Personality | You are more emotional than logical, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more atheist than religious, more loner than dependent, more workaholic than lazy, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more idealist than cynical, more follower than leader, and more introverted than extroverted.
As for specific personality traits, you are intellectual (74%), romantic (71%), musical (65%), greedy (60%). | | | Stereotypes | | College Student | 91% | | Emo Kid | 89% | | Punk Rock | 87% | | | | Life Experience | | Sex | 25% | | Substances | 3% | | Travel | 21% | | Politics Your political views would best be described as Libertarian, whom you agree with around 73% of the time. | | Socioeconomic Your attitude toward life best associates you with Upper Class. You make more than 21% of those who have taken this test, and 98% less than the U.S. average. | If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG. By the way, your hottness rank is 45%, hotter than 9% of other test takers. | TAKE THE TEST brought to you by thatsurveysite

So I had my first real day of work today. Finished the very long computer training, and they eventually gave me my own ID number, which at Sears you need to complete any transaction on the register. I was working 3-9 today and they gave it to me at 7:30. There was a lot of standing around, lots of people paying bills. In fact, more people paid credit card bills today than bought merchandise. How can you pay more often than you buy? That reminds me of one of the questions I saw on one of the last training lessons I did today. It was about gift registry and the question was something like "True or False: Second weddings and older brides are more common." That was the question. I stood there thinking "More common than what? That's a stupid question, second weddings can't be more common than first ones..." Of course what they meant was that second weddings are more common today than they were years ago, but still, that's terrible wording. Another one was "Grooms are more involved in Wedding planning and registries." Again, do they mean more involved than brides? That would certainly make more sense to assume than what they meant, which once again was that grooms are more involved today than they used to be. I learned how to close the register at the end of the day. Fun stuff. Won't somebody please come visit me at work on wednesday? It really was boring today. Still, first day of work...interesting stuff.

So Tom and I went to Vintage Vinyl the other day, and since I liked them when we saw them play with cyanotic, I picked up a Panzer Division CD. In the words of the Last Action Hero, big mistake. Or, I should say, it's not to my taste. Very noisy and sound byte-laden. I paid $13 for it. I wouldn't suppose anyone wants to buy it from me? Make an offer, it hasn't even been played once. I also picked up a disc of remixes of an MSI song, Straight to Video. That's a good disc, especially the remix by the Birthday Massacre. I downloaded an album by them, which is also really good. Isn't it funny how you'll pay money for an album and hate it and download one you end up really liking for free?

So Tom and I decided a while ago to catch Cyanotic on their "Fix the Glitch" tour when it came through New Brunswick. It was to be held at this place called "the Killing Centre", which was the only venue listed that had no website or references on the internet or even a clear starting time. But hey, what have we got to lose? so we went down to New Brunswick and I drive past the address and we see no killing centre. We park and walk to the address and promptly found out why there was no website. It's someone's house. This show was being held in their basement. Underground bands indeed! We are welcomed in quite warmly, although the guy who owned the house and seemingly everyone else was very surprised anyone they didn't know actually showed up, and we hang around for a while in the basement, waiting for the fun to start. It was a very cool atmosphere. At around 8:30 the first band starts, and I'm pretty sure they were comprised of one of the guys who owns the house and his girlfriend. They sucked a lot, I think this woman was trying to sing Nightwish over industrial music. Her microphone went out a couple times, which I guess is technical difficulty but it improved their sound. Also the bass was way way too loud. As in the singer's voice was being shaken by it, as were all of us. All 15 of the people who were there. Also there were no lights on. The only reason I could see them was because they had a laptop open. After a little setup time, Panzer Division started, and they were pretty awesome. Didn't buy their CD, but I enjoyed the performance. They had some minor sample malfunctions. After a longer wait, Mindflux Funeral started. They were awesome. So much energy. So much bass. Fun stuff. Singer's mic went out a number of times. After a setup time of like 10 seconds (since the same drummer played in both bands), Cyanotic came on, and started tearing up the place. The lead singer guy introduced the band and talked to the audience (now like 6 people) in an Arnold accent. The music was great, his mic died quite a few times, but that was fixed soon. The keyboardist...I don't know what he was doing. He was completely smashed and fell over, and in the process of this, in the middle of a song, all the power went out. They gradually got some stuff back online, but then they couldn't play their background tracks at all. We all waited around for a long time while they tried to fix it, and eventually they did, and they continued the song. It happened again, and the sample guy threw his mixing board on the ground. Didn't smash it though. Eventually they got it working again, finished the song, and started another one. It happened again. By now it's around midnight, and they gave up. It was an awesome experience, in a weird house(they had no regular lights. There was a blue one, a red one, and a green one. In the main house, not by the bands. There was no light by the bands, except a few strobes which they brought with them.) Man, I'm part of an underground scene now. This was totally worth the $5 I paid to get in, even with all the technical difficulties. Oh, I also bought some CDs. 'Twas a good night.
Read Tom's entry to get a fuller idea of what the show was like.

I believe what feels right to me, and I think that's how everyone should be. Some people aren't bright enough to form their own opinions, though, so I guess organized religion has a place for them. I use judaism as a structure upon which I impose my own beliefs vased on what parts of the religion have been explained to me satisfactorily, plus whatever traditions I just happen to like for whatever my reason is. Where do you think we go when we die? There has to be something. I don't know. If not, we'll never know we were wrong.

Glee. Closest? Tom and Drew are across the hall right now. Weirdest? I only associate with weird people, that's why I like them. Smartest? They're all equally bright at different things. Ditziest? Courtney, maybe. I don't know that I'd describe her as ditzy, though... Friends you miss being close to the most? I kinda wish I still hung out with Matt as much as I used to, but my new friends are better than most of the people I knew up until I met them. I don't miss anyone around them. Last person you talked to online? Shira, who sent me this survey. Who do you talk to most online? My cousins, Courtney, my parents. I see my TCNJ friends in person more than I talk to them online, but Tom too when we're on break. Who are you on the phone with most? If you added up total time on the phone, not number of calls, Glee. I love every minute of it. Who do you trust most? Probably Tom. Who listens to your problems? Well, I guess all of my friends do. I whine at them a lot, that's what they're there for. Who do you fight most with? I don't fight with anyone. I just don't talk to people I don't like. Who's the nicest? All of them. Who's the most outgoing? None of them. Who's the best singer? Um...Glee sings to me all the time, and I could listen to that all the time. Who's on your shit-list? Nobody. Have you ever thought of having sex with a friend? No, but have thought of dating some of them, if circumstances were different. Who's your second family? My TCNJ family. Do you always feel understood? Sometimes. Who's the loudest friend? I don't think any of them are too loud. Oh, Aaron, definitely. He never shuts up. Do you trust others easily? I think so. Who's house were you last at? My own. Unless you count the house we looked at to rent today. Name one person who's arms you feel safe in: I'm waiting to find her. Do your friends know you? I don't think they could refer to me by name if they didn't. Friend that lives farthest away: Glee. I want to see her so much. Does anyone know the way to NC?
Love and All That Do you consider love a mistake? Never. What do you find romantic? Dinner and a show, escorting my lady anywhere, opening the doors for her, all the chivalry stuff that I do anyway. Sitting outside at night looking at the stars, kissing in the rain, red roses whenever. All the other stuff that I would do given the chance. All of it the corniest stuff ever, but I'm a sucker for it. Turn-ons? Someone who likes me. Haha, um...sense of humor/overall personality are very important. I also really like eyes. Turn-offs? Amputees and the old and infirm. I hate to discriminate, but the question made me. First kiss? Your first kiss isn't important. Your last kiss is. If someone you had no interest in had interest in dating you how would you feel? First of all, the question had "u" instead of "you" so I changed it. Flattered and bewildered. I would go out with them anyway. Do you prefer knowing someone before dating them or going steady? I can't be picky, whichever. I guess knowing them, but either works. Knowing them beforehand, like being friends first can be awkward if it doesn't work. Have you ever wished it was more socially acceptable for a girl to ask a guy out? I have mixed feelings. I like old-fashioned, but it would be easier for me if they asked me out. Have you ever been romantically attracted to someone physically unattractive? That's all a matter of opinion. Anyone I'm attracted to is beautiful to me. Do you think the opposite sex finds you good looking? I doubt it. What is best about the opposite sex? Everything about them is wonderful except their not going out with me at the moment. We need to do something about this. What is the worst thing about the opposite sex? How so many of them think they're so much superior to everyone else. What's the last present someone gave you? My parents just let me order a new mp3 player, that's kind of a present, since they'll be paying for it. Are you in love? No. Do you consider your significant other hot? Next question.
Who Was the Last Person... That haunted you? Marley's Ghost You wanted to kill? Kill? I don't know... That you laughed at? Either Tom or Drew, probably Tom. That laughed at you? Both Tom and Drew. That turned you on? Umm.... You went shopping with? I don't know. That broke your heart? Fuck you. To disappoint you? I can't remember. To ask you out? Ha, I guess Samantha kinda asked me to prom before I asked her. That turned out well. To make you cry? I don't want to talk about it. I haven't cried in two years and I don't care to tell the world about it. To brighten up your day? Everyone I talk to brightens my day. That you thought about? I guess Samantha, since she was the last question I answered. You saw a movie with? Tom, 300. Excellent movie. You talked to on the phone? My mom. You talked to through IM/ICQ? Shira. You saw? I don't remember whether I looked at Tom or Drew last when I left their room. You lost? Lost? You mean like a lost friendship? I don't know.
Right This Moment... Are you going out? No, going to sleep as soon as I get to the end of this. Will it be with your significant other? Who? Or some random person? No, I'm not sleeping with anyone. Are you happy? What are you wearing right now? Black t-shirt, brown cargo pants, kung-fu shoes. Body part you're touching right now: None of my body parts are touching at the moment, I'm typing with both hands. What are you worried about right now? Finishing this and still getting enough sleep. What book are you reading? Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, for cyberpunk class. What's on your mousepad? Alfred E Neuman. Use 5 words to describe how you're feeling: Ready to finish this survey. Are you bored? Less than I was before I started, I guess. Are you tired? Yeah. Are you talking to anyone online? No. Are you talking to anyone on the phone? No. Are you lonely or content? Lonely. Are you listening to music? Yup. What do you wish? If I tell you it won't come true. What do you think I would wish for? What's your favorite smell? New car, maybe? I don't know. What are you looking forward to? Getting a house for next year and having a Wii in it and getting this new mp3 player tomorrow.
Good night all.

Echoes of last night still reverberating in my head |
] |
So last night was probably the most awesome, craziest, weirdest, wettest, most awesome nights ever. So we went to the Trocadero in Philly to see Combichrist and KMFDM, two of the greatest Industrial Rock acts ever. We had planned to get there an hour before the doors opened, so we could get good spots in the crowd. The traffic was so bad, though, we got there with about ten minutes to spare. Oh by the way, it was pouring. everything I was wearing got soaked. Also, we only took one umbrella. Rain leaked into my boots and turned my socks blue-black. Anyway, we got in, and having actually bought our tickets beforehand, we were standing right at the front. Despite only having two people in front of me, I still ended up behind a really tall skinhead and some guy with a backpack who kept pushing me around. So, at 8 Combichrist came on, which was amazing as bands invariably come on late. In fact, I believe they were a minute or so early. They deafened us with awesomeness. However, they were pretty scary. I think Shira was traumatized, and I don't blame her. A mosh pit formed around halfway through their set, but we were in front of it and didn't get dragged in. Got jostled a bit, but no major damage done. This was also the first time I'd seen an opening act do an encore. They were good and all, but I kept wanting them to finish already so KMFDM could start. After the freak show was over, Shira went to hang out with the lighting people and very nearly got offered a job. Tom and I were too busy rocking out to do anything useful like that, though. Plus, we don't have marketable skills like Shira does. Around 9:30 or so, KMFDM began raining badassery down on our unsuspecting heads. What is there even to say about them? Words can not describe that performance. After a few songs, one of the guys in front of me moved, and I was able to move forward and have a perfect, unobstructed view of everything. I managed to get about ten pictures of them with my phone, including one of Sascha singing through a megaphone, but unfortunately I have no way to transfer them to my computer right now. They did two encores!! They played Megalomaniac at the end of the first encore, and then they left the stage and Tom says to me, "Even though they didn't play it, that was Godlike." So then they come out again and play Godlike. The concert could not have been better, unless of course it hadn't been pouring and I wasn't soaked the whole time. My only regret is I didn't get on line to buy a tshirt. Oh well, next time. So after the concert ended, we went to Wawa for drinks and sustenance. Tom decided, after waiting on line for a while, that he needed to get a gallon of orange drink, so he got off line and back on with more drink. So, we left with our food and gallon of orange drink. This is where the weird starts. We're walking the few blocks back to the parking lot, deciding whether or not to go to the afterparty at this club, when some black guy comes up from behind us and asks us if we know of any open mic nights around there, because he's the greatest poet ever. He starts telling us about his life experience, how he's "the most real person [we'll] ever meet" and how he was in prison for 7 1/2 years and is dying of AIDS and just wants to go home and see his mother before he dies. He says that he could have had $500 that night, but chose not to, and that he could hurt people, but he changed his name to Righteous and won't do it. He asks for some money and we give him some, and he starts telling us about how great white people are, and eventually goes away. He recited poetry for us too. He called me John. He must have been really high. Tom's choosing to pretend it didn't happen. Then we started back for home and I got off at an exit I wasn't supposed to and got sort of lost somewhere in PA, then we turned around, I drove up on a divider, and eventually got back on 95 and we got home around 12:30, very tired and shaken, but happy. Then I couldn't sleep all night, mainly because my arm was hurting from all the air-punching I did. Oh, and then at 9:30 this morning the fire alarm went off because someone was boiling water. Then I slept until 3 in the afternoon.
The End.

Down and Out - KMFDM, about to switch it to Disobedience |
] |
It's been a long time, hasn't it? I'm sorry.
I'll really try to write more often. Maybe. If anyone cares.
I'm going to see KMFDM in Philly on wednesday. Hooray!
I almost slept through Japanese today. My friends came in and poked me, though, so I got up. Thanks.
I like my boots. I think I want another trenchcoat.
Good bye

| Mike Ross week!!!! |
[18 Jul 2006|10:10pm] |

Since last year was a moderate success, once again it is now National Mike Ross Week! Show your appreciation of me by leaving comments and do what you can to remember all the awesome things I do this week, July 18th-25th. I really don't think anyone reads this so I probably won't get any response at all. Too bad...
